1. Why should I use NIP Commencement Listings?
We have pulled together all the data available and compiled it into an easily accessible list of building works about to start right now.
2. How can I read the commencement notice plans on the planning authority websites?
We have a tutorial here showing how to use the DJVu plugin to read the planning authority files.
3. How much does it cost and what do I get if I Register for this service?
The cost is €35 per month on a monthly basis no contracts. Just €35 a month you will receive a weekly report of found commencements in the republic of Ireland right to your inbox.
4. How do I Register for this service?
Click on the "Register" button beside here or beside project.
- fill out the registry form asking you for your name, address, county, phone number and profession..
- a message window will appear asking you to check your inbox for your email verification.
- in the email send by NIP you will be asked to click on a link to verify your email.
- by clicking on the link you will be directed back to the NIP website where a message box will appear asking you to "take note of a password" and to login to the site (please write this password down as you will need it to login in the future).
- close the message box and login with the password.
5. How do I pay for this service?
You can pay by Paypal which allows you to use your PayPal account or your VISA Card. . Once you have registered on the site you will be brought to your Account Profile page where you can setup your monthly subscription.On the top right of the page you will find a "Subscribe Now" button for Paypal.
- Click on the button.
- You will be brought to the PayPal secure server where you can setup your subscription..
- Use either your current PayPal account or your Visa Card as directed.
6. Do I have to sign up to a contract?
No. You pay on a monthly basis with no sub-clauses... pay as you go!
7. What happens if I lose my password?

8. What is a Commencement Notice?
When starting a build the council must be legally notified of the date when developers or builders are due to start on-site "A commencement notice" .
9. Where does New Irish Plans get their list from?
NIP obtains all its information from publicly available sources, including planning authority websites and office lists. We trawl through the available information and extract those that are of interest. YOu could do this as well, but why waste time when we've already done this for you?
10. How often is the website updated?
Our website and database are continually updated, and you will be sent an emailed report every Monday with all the commencements we've discovered during the week up until then.
11. If I subscribe to this service can I forward the reports to my co-workers?
The links in the emailed reports are protected, using your email address and password to verify you are allowed access to them. If you pass the reports on, you will also need to pass your email address and password on. We will disable any accounts we discover that are abusing this service.
12. How accurate is the reported information?
We manually examine every commencement before adding it to our database. New Irish Plans cannot ensure that the information was entered correctly in the original application.
13. This is public information - why shouldn't I just go to the various planning authorities and get the commencement lists myself?
You could. But for just over €1 a day, and access to information from all over the country, is it really worth your while to spend hours driving to each of the counties you're interested in? We've already done all the work for you, and will deliver the information to you on a weekly basis.
14. Why are there no names or addresses in your database ?
Due to the data protection act we cannot publish names or addresses on our website. We provide links to the original applications, so you can get all the information you need directly from that. On our site, we have extracted the core features that you are interested in. If you want more information, we direct you to the original applications.
